If you’re a clam and it’s your birthday you shell-ebrate. When you’re just a regular person you eat cake, dance around and have fun. Or sometimes you just feel a little bit older. Thankfully, there are some unique ways to wish someone happy birthday that will spice up the special occasion for all involved. Here are some ideas.
I Believe I Can Fly
If it’s a really special birthday and you just want to go all out then you can think about writing it in the sky. Just make sure the big guy or gal sees it when it goes by. One good way is to make sure it will fly past a sporting event or park or somewhere that you know the birthday individual will be at a certain time. Getting a small plane to fly a banner in the sky is memorable, amazing and dramatic. Everyone will always talk about and remember it, and your birthday person will be touched by how much you cared and the uniqueness of the way you showed it! Just hang on to your wallet, though, because getting this done isn’t exactly cheap.¹
Surprise Party
Sometimes it’s the old classics that can still be unique – if they’re done right. A surprise party is one of those old classics. Make sure to keep it a secret and have someone to help you out in planning it. Also try not to go overboard, ten or fifteen friends or family should do fine, not the whole neighborhood. Having a surprise party can be a lot of fun if it’s done right and if people don’t make too big of a deal of it. Once the “surprise” part is over you can chill out and have a fun get-together and it will always be a fun and memorable time.²
Paintball
Paintball party! This one is better suited for pre-teens and kids, but paintball can even be fun for some adults. After all, why not? Just make sure you choose a reputable paintball company that provides you with all the necessary protective equipment and also has birthday packages and you can look forward to a fun day of splattering each other through the woods and settling down for some cake and ice cream after. Happy birthday, dad – splat!³
Get Boar-d
One of the best unique ways to wish someone happy birthday is to arrange a boardgame party for them. This can be adjusted by age to include drinking games, fun games like pin the tail on the donkey or even a life-size game of Clue. Why not? Just watch out for Professor Plum in the study, that guy is vicious. You can also go with good old board games too and have a tournament of the game of Life, Monopoly, Settlers of Catan or Risk. It will be fun for the whole family, guaranteed.⁴
Free Food
Everyone loves food and one of the best ways to wish someone happy birthday is to take them out to a great restaurant where they’ll eat for free. There are a surprisingly large amount of restaurants that offer you free meals and desserts on your birthday if you provide proof on your ID that it’s your birthday, so give it a whirl. This idea can also include restaurant staff singing happy birthday so watch out for the potential of embarrassment – I guess every good thing has it’s price after all. Still, it’s really a great thing to enjoy a super restaurant for free. Maybe you’ll even want to have an appetizer at one place and then hit another. They won’t know you got two free meals for your birthday buddy.⁴
